Wisdom teeth causing pain, swelling, or crowding? Inspire Dental & Orthodontics provides safe, gentle extractions at all three DFW locations — with sedation options to keep you comfortable throughout. We accept Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans, offer Saturday appointments, and will walk you through every step before we begin.
Wisdom teeth -- also called third molars -- are the last teeth to emerge, typically between ages 17 and 25. Because most adult mouths don't have room for them, they frequently become impacted, erupt at the wrong angle, or cause crowding and infection. According to the ADA's MouthHealthy guide, impacted wisdom teeth that aren't treated can lead to cysts, damage to neighboring teeth, and ongoing infection. At Inspire Dental, we take X-rays to evaluate your wisdom teeth position and give you an honest recommendation -- removal is only suggested when it's genuinely needed.
Pain or Swelling in the Back of Your Mouth
Throbbing discomfort behind your back molars, especially when biting or opening wide, often signals a wisdom tooth pushing against bone or tissue.
Impacted or Partially Erupted Teeth
When a wisdom tooth can't fully emerge, it becomes trapped in the jaw, creating pressure, pain, and a high risk of infection around the gum flap.
Crowding or Shifting Teeth
Wisdom teeth can push neighboring teeth out of alignment. If your bite feels off or your front teeth have started shifting, wisdom teeth may be the cause.
Red, Swollen, or Bleeding Gums
Inflamed or infected gum tissue around a partially erupted wisdom tooth is a common complication that won't resolve on its own without treatment.
Jaw Stiffness or Difficulty Chewing
A wisdom tooth pressing against the jaw joint or back molars can make opening and closing your mouth painful or restrict your range of motion.
Repeated Infections or Abscesses
Persistent bad breath, a bad taste in your mouth, or recurring infections around the back of your jaw are all signs of a wisdom tooth problem that needs attention. A same-day urgent visit may be needed if pain is severe.
Wisdom tooth pain shouldn't be ignored. Inspire Dental accepts Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans and offers same-day and Saturday appointments at all three DFW locations. Call us or book online now.
Book a Wisdom Tooth ConsultationWisdom tooth extraction sounds intimidating, but at Inspire Dental we make the process as calm and straightforward as possible. Here's how a typical appointment works from start to finish.
Consultation and X-Rays
We take panoramic X-rays to assess the exact position of your wisdom teeth -- whether they are erupted, partially erupted, or fully impacted -- and discuss the best approach for removal.
Sedation Selection
We review your sedation options together based on the complexity of the extraction and your comfort level. Most patients choose local anesthesia; oral sedation is available for more anxious patients.
Numbing the Area
The extraction site is fully numbed before any work begins. We take our time here -- we won't start until you confirm you feel comfortable and cannot feel any sharp sensation.
Extraction
For erupted teeth, removal is straightforward. Impacted teeth may require a small incision to access the tooth, which is then removed in sections to minimize trauma to surrounding bone and tissue.
Closing and Gauze Placement
Once the tooth is removed, the site is cleaned and gauze is placed. Stitches may be used if an incision was made -- these are typically dissolvable and require no follow-up removal.
Recovery Instructions
Before you leave, we walk you through exactly what to expect over the next 24 to 72 hours -- what to eat, how to manage swelling, when to call us, and signs of dry socket to watch for.
We offer multiple sedation levels to match your needs and the complexity of the procedure. Your dentist will help you choose the right option.
Injection that fully numbs the extraction site. Standard for most wisdom tooth removals. You are awake and comfortable throughout.
A prescription medication taken before the appointment that reduces anxiety and creates a relaxed, drowsy state. Local anesthesia is still used alongside it.
Administered intravenously for deeper sedation, typically used for complex impactions or patients with significant dental anxiety. Requires a driver.
Every wisdom tooth extraction at Inspire Dental is performed by a licensed dentist -- not delegated to a less qualified provider. We review your X-rays in detail before the appointment and explain the approach clearly, so you know exactly what to expect before we begin.
We accept Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans for wisdom tooth extractions. Our front desk team verifies your benefits before treatment -- no surprise fees. Visit our Patient Resources page for payment options. For routine dental extractions of other teeth, visit our dedicated extractions page.

Mesquite, TX
I had all four wisdom teeth out at the Mesquite location and I was honestly terrified going in. The dentist was incredibly calm and explained every step before doing anything. I chose oral sedation and felt nothing. Recovery was smooth -- they gave me detailed instructions before I left and called to check on me the next day. Best dental experience I've ever had.

Garland, TX
My teenage daughter had an impacted wisdom tooth causing a lot of pain. We got an appointment at the Garland office within two days. The dentist showed us the X-rays, explained the procedure clearly, and my daughter said the extraction itself was completely painless. She was back to normal within a few days. So relieved we came here.

Totalmente recomendado.
