We accept Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans, and same-day appointments are available at all three locations.
A dental extraction removes a tooth that is too damaged, decayed, or crowded to be saved or that is causing harm to surrounding teeth. At Inspire Dental & Orthodontics, we perform both simple extractions, where the tooth is visible above the gumline, and surgical extractions, where a tooth is impacted or broken at the gumline and requires a more involved approach. Our team uses modern techniques and local anesthesia to keep the process as comfortable as possible.
Extractions are sometimes necessary before dental bridge placement, orthodontic treatment, or when a tooth has deteriorated beyond what a filling or crown can restore. We serve patients of all ages and accept Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans across our Mesquite, Garland, and Balch Springs offices.
Not all extractions are the same. The type of procedure depends on the condition, position, and root structure of the tooth being removed.
Used when the tooth is fully erupted and accessible. The dentist loosens the tooth with a dental elevator and lifts it out with forceps. Local anesthesia is used and most patients are back to normal within a day or two.
Required when a tooth has not fully erupted, is fractured at the gumline, or has curved roots that prevent simple removal. A small incision in the gum tissue is made to access the tooth. Sedation options are available for added comfort.
When a tooth is severely infected or damaged beyond repair, extraction provides immediate, lasting relief that other treatments cannot.
A badly infected tooth can spread bacteria to adjacent teeth and surrounding bone. Timely extraction stops the spread and protects your overall oral health.
Overcrowded teeth sometimes need one or more extractions before braces or aligners can create the space needed for proper alignment.
Third molars that have not fully erupted can crowd neighboring teeth, cause pain, and become sites for decay. Surgical removal resolves these issues early.
We accept Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO plans at all three locations, making tooth extractions accessible for families across the community.
Tooth pain should not wait. We offer same-day emergency extraction appointments so you are not left in discomfort while waiting for care.

Our team walks you through every stage so there are no surprises. Here is what happens from your first call through your recovery.
We take X-rays to assess the tooth's root structure, position, and the condition of surrounding bone and teeth before recommending extraction.
Local anesthesia fully numbs the area. For surgical extractions or anxious patients, oral sedation may also be available. You should feel pressure but not pain.
For simple extractions, a dental elevator gently expands the socket and loosens the tooth from its ligament before removal with forceps.
For impacted or broken teeth, a small gum incision provides access. Bone that blocks removal may be gently reduced. The area is then carefully cleaned.
The tooth is carefully rocked and lifted free of the socket. For multi-rooted teeth, sectioning into smaller pieces makes removal easier and more precise.
After removal, the socket is cleaned of any debris or infected tissue to reduce the risk of post-operative infection and support healing.
Gauze is placed over the socket and you will bite down gently for 30 to 45 minutes. A blood clot forms in the socket, which is essential to healing.
We send you home with clear written instructions covering diet, activity, pain management, and warning signs to watch for during recovery.
