Missing a tooth or several teeth? A dental bridge is a proven, natural-looking solution that restores your smile, protects your bite, and prevents surrounding teeth from shifting. At Inspire Dental & Orthodontics, we craft custom bridges across all three DFW locations using strong, tooth-colored materials designed to last. We accept most PPO plans, offer flexible payment options, and will walk you through every step from consultation to final fitting.
A dental bridge literally bridges the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth (called pontics) held in place by crowns cemented onto the natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap. According to the ADA's MouthHealthy guide, bridges restore the ability to chew and speak properly, maintain the shape of your face, and prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position. At Inspire Dental, we use strong, tooth-colored porcelain and ceramic materials so your bridge blends seamlessly with your natural smile.
Most Common
Traditional Bridge
One or more pontic teeth held in place by dental crowns cemented onto the natural teeth on either side of the gap. The most widely used bridge type -- strong, reliable, and long-lasting.
Minimal Preparation
Maryland Bridge
The pontic is held by a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the backs of the adjacent teeth. No crowns required -- a conservative option suited for front teeth with healthy neighboring teeth.
One Supporting Tooth
Cantilever Bridge
The pontic is anchored to just one adjacent tooth rather than two. Used when only one healthy tooth is available next to the gap -- less common but effective in the right situations.
Most Stable
Implant-Supported Bridge
Instead of crowns on natural teeth, the bridge is anchored to dental implants. Ideal for replacing multiple teeth -- no healthy teeth are altered and the result feels closest to natural.
Restores Chewing and Speech
Missing teeth make chewing difficult and can affect how certain sounds are formed. A bridge restores full function immediately after placement.
Prevents Teeth From Shifting
The teeth surrounding a gap gradually drift toward it over time, causing bite problems and misalignment. A bridge keeps everything in its correct position.
Natural-Looking Results
Porcelain and ceramic bridges are shade-matched to your existing teeth. Most people cannot tell the difference between a well-made bridge and natural teeth.
Maintains Facial Structure
Missing teeth cause bone loss in the jaw, which leads to a sunken facial appearance over time. A bridge preserves the shape of your face by keeping supporting structures active.
Long-Lasting Solution
With proper care and regular checkups, a dental bridge typically lasts 10 to 15 years or more -- making it one of the most durable tooth replacement options available.
Fixed and Non-Removable
Unlike partial dentures, a bridge is permanently cemented in place. You brush and floss it like natural teeth -- no adhesives, no nightly removal, no slipping.
Ready to close the gap? Inspire Dental accepts most PPO insurance plans and offers flexible payment options across all three DFW locations. Book a consultation and we'll walk you through your bridge options and costs before any treatment begins.
Book a Bridge ConsultationGetting a dental bridge at Inspire Dental typically takes two appointments spaced a couple of weeks apart. Here's exactly what happens at each stage.
Consultation and X-Rays
We evaluate the gap, the condition of adjacent teeth, and your bone health to determine which bridge type is best for your situation. We discuss all options and costs before proceeding.
Preparing the Abutment Teeth
For a traditional bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap are reshaped to accommodate the crowns that will anchor the bridge. Local anesthesia keeps you comfortable throughout.
Impressions
Precise impressions or digital scans of your teeth are taken and sent to the dental lab, where your custom bridge is fabricated to fit your bite exactly.
Temporary Bridge Placement
A temporary bridge is placed to protect the prepared teeth and maintain your appearance and bite function while the permanent bridge is being made -- typically 2 to 3 weeks.
Fitting the Permanent Bridge
At your second visit, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is tried in. We check the fit, bite alignment, and appearance before making any final adjustments.
Cementing and Care Instructions
Once everything looks and feels right, the bridge is permanently cemented in place. We demonstrate how to clean under the bridge with a floss threader and review long-term care.
Every bridge at Inspire Dental is designed and fitted by a licensed dentist who checks the bite, margins, and color match before final cementation. We take impressions carefully and work with quality lab partners so the bridge fits naturally and lasts as long as possible.
Most PPO plans cover a portion of dental bridge costs. We verify your benefits before treatment and provide a full cost estimate upfront. Visit our Patient Resources page for payment plan options. If the adjacent teeth need root canal therapy or individual crowns before bridgework, we'll discuss the full treatment plan at your consultation.

Mesquite, TX
I had a gap from a tooth extracted years ago that I'd been embarrassed about forever. The team at Inspire Dental in Mesquite was so patient explaining my options -- I went with a traditional bridge. The color match is unbelievable. My family didn't even notice anything had changed, which was exactly what I wanted. Two appointments, completely pain-free.

Garland, TX
My insurance covered a good part of the bridge and the Garland office handled the paperwork without me having to chase anyone down. The dentist was thorough, explained everything clearly, and the bridge fits perfectly -- no pressure, no sensitivity. I can eat normally again for the first time in over a year.
